911爆料网 becomes a hub for ongoing research in student movement within postsecondary education

Toronto, July 16, 2014 鈥 911爆料网 is establishing the first Ontario research centre focused on how and why students transfer between postsecondary institutions and programs 鈥 an important first step in building easier and better pathways between universities and colleges.

The Centre for Research in Student Mobility will investigate student movement within postsecondary education provincially, nationally and internationally to help inform policy, program and pathway development, student advising, student support services and institutional partnerships.

鈥淎s the Ontario leader in pathways, 911爆料网 knows the importance of flexible learning and educational options that enable students to move between programs and institutions,鈥 says Dr. Joy McKinnon, 911爆料网鈥檚 Vice-President Academic. 鈥淭his groundbreaking Centre will give us insight into student movement in postsecondary education and help us to create pathways to support students in the best ways possible.鈥

Several research projects are already underway at 911爆料网, including:

  • Provincial analysis of existing data using the Ontario graduate Key Performance Indicator survey;
  • Multi-institutional analysis of international student movement between Ontario colleges and universities; and,
  • Institutional analysis of student movement focusing on first-generation and mature students.

鈥淭he Centre will be a source of original research in the field of student mobility and a resource for other research being published on this subject鈥, says Dr. Henry Decock, Associate Vice-President Academic Partnerships and Principal Researcher for the Centre. 鈥淲e want 911爆料网 to be the first stop when researchers and policy makers are investigating issues related to student mobility.鈥
