911±¬ÁÏÍø Polytechnic recently hosted Nolan Quinn, Ontario’s Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security, at our King Campus for his first-ever visit to 911±¬ÁÏÍø.

The Minister had a firsthand look at the important teaching and learning that occurs at 911±¬ÁÏÍø every day.  It was also an opportunity to talk to the minister about skill shortages in key industries, postsecondary funding and how 911±¬ÁÏÍø plays a key role in promoting innovation and advancing the Ontario economy.

Minister Quinn met with many students and employees during his visit. His tour began at the Animal Health building, followed by a visit to the barn area where Minister Quinn met veterinary technician students and a few of 911±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s four-legged animal residents. This part of the tour was especially topical, given 911±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s recent announcement of a new strategic partnership with Confederation College, aimed at enhancing veterinary tech opportunities for students across Ontario.

The Minister then met with nursing students and employees from the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Nanji Foundation School of Nursing. This occurred during one of the students’ training modules, giving the minister an opportunity to see these future practical nurses in action.

Accompanied by his parliamentary assistant Lorne Coe, the minister left with a gift of honey, supplied by 911±¬ÁÏÍø bees.
