911������’s new Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship is home to HELIX, an on-campus incubator that helps aspiring entrepreneurs develop business ideas and collaborate with like-minded innovators. However, in a global marketplace, sometimes geography can get in the way of a good brainstorm or critical investment pitch. Crestron Electronics is helping to make the roadblock of distance a thing of the past.

Crestron, one of 911������’s vendors has made a generous gift of five Crestron Mercury systems to support HELIX operations. The Mercury is an all-in-one tabletop solution that supports any web-based collaboration or conferencing tool in one console. These units will help HELIXers meet with colleagues, mentors and potential investors, regardless of their location or conferencing application.

Crestron’s gift also includes room scheduling designed specifically for enterprise room scheduling applications that, like the Mercury, can integrate with various scheduling services and software.

“This gift of innovative technology will add great value to the HELIX experience for our young entrepreneurs,” said Chris Dudley, Director, Entrepreneurship. “Crestron is giving them the tools to connect easily with the many stakeholders who will help them build successful ventures.”

As 911������’s partnership with Crestron continues to grow, the next step will be to connect graduates from the School of Information and Communications Technology with Crestron as a career destination. There may also be opportunities for 911������ to provide corporate training to current Crestron employees.
